Surbiton's just been named one of the most desirable places to live in Britain. Let's explore why!

Just this month the Telegraph named Surbiton as one of the ‘most desirable Suburbs to live in in Britain.’ So, what’s all the hype about? We’re here to take you through a whistle stop tour of the best that the area has to offer and then showcase the beautiful one and two-bedroom Shared Ownership homes we have in Surbiton.

Places to chill

One of the best things about Surbiton is the several large green spaces where you can go to and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You have the beautiful Berrylands Nature Reserve on your doorstep as well as Claremont Gardens, a stone’s throw away from Surbiton town centre.

If a workout is more your style for clearing your head then you have Nufflied Health Gym (where you’ll also find a good sized swimming pool), The Sweat Society and The Body Shape Studios all in a one mile radius from each other.

More into music therapy? We recommend checking out the Banquet Record store performance schedule. They’ve brought everyone from George Ezra to Chase and Status to the local area in recent months!

Places to try new flavours

Surbtion has a wide range of bars and pubs, restaurants and markets. Check out The Prince of Wales for the ultimate Sunday roast, there's the no.97 restaurant with its own gin bar and distillery and the Antelope pub, which features a selection of real ales. On the third Saturday of each month there’s an award-winning farmer’s market on Maple Road. Whether you're shopping for gourmet game, homemade preserves or delectable cakes and patisserie it’s all about fantastic food, a great atmosphere and embracing the sense of community.

Places to get moving

One of Surbiton’s biggest draws is its direct line to London Waterloo. This train can get you into central London in around 15 minutes. If you’re looking to go further afield then you’re in luck as Surbiton Station is on the Great Western Line meaning you can go directly to places such as Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth. There are also bus stops where local major bus lines (including the 281) run through meaning quick and easy access to Kingston, Richmond and beyond.

Places to develop

If you’ve got young ones in tow who you want to keep entertained, then there’s lots to do for them in and around Surbiton. There’s both Rascals Sot Play and Jupiter Jos Soft Play around a mile away from central Surbiton. For those a little older then the White Spider Climbing Centre should keep any young daredevils in your family satisfied. For those who prefer to flex their artistic muscle then the Craft Café on Oak Hill Crescent is just the place.
